Terrorist attack was Pathankot grenade attack: International Sikh Youth Federation chief sitting in PAK attacked in Army Cantt, police camp-religious places were also targets

The grenade attack was a terrorist attack on the gate of Pathankot Army Cantt. Which was done by Lakhbir Rode, Chief of International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) sitting in Pakistan. Gangsters Sukhmeetpal Singh alias Sukh Bhikhariwal and Sukhpreet Singh alias Sukh were also involved.

Punjab DGP VK Bhavra said that 6 operatives of the Federation who carried out the grenade attack have been arrested by the Nawanshahr Police. 6 hand grenades, 9mm pistol, 30 bore rifle, magazines and cartridges have also been recovered from them.

There were 2 attacks in Pathankot in November last year.
DGP Bhavra said that there were 2 incidents of hand grenade throwing in Pathankot. The first mill took place near the bridge on 11 November 2021 at 9.30 pm. Then on November 21, a grenade was thrown at the Triveni Gate of Pathankot Army Cantt. 2 cases were registered in this case.

After investigation by the police, 6 accused living in Gurdaspur district were arrested. In which Amandeep alias Mantri resident Lakhanpal, Gurvinder Singh alias Guindi and Parminder Kumar alias Rohit alias Rohta resident Kharal, Rajinder Singh alias Malli alias Nikku resident Gunnupur, Harpreet Singh alias Dholki resident of Gotpokar and Raman Kumar resident of Ghazikot are included.

ISYF chief sent weapons from across the border
DGP Bhavra said that during initial interrogation, the accused told that the hand grenades, weapons and explosives recovered from them had come from across the border. Which was sent by Lakhbir Rode. Rode asked them to attack the pre-set target. In which many places including police, army related establishments and religious places were involved.

Beggarwal locked in Tihar used to provide arms, people and funds
Police said that Lakhbir Rode’s name has also cropped up in the murder of Comrade Balwinder Singh in Bhikhiwind on 16 October 2020. The police had recovered tiffin bombs, RDX and weapons from his relative Gurmukh Singh Rode in August 2021.

Sukh Bhikhariwal is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. He was also involved in the murder of a comrade. He was also involved in the case of Honey Mahajan of Dhariwal on 10 February 2020. He was deported from Dubai in December 2020. The beggarwal provides all the frills including weapons, funds along with the operatives to carry out such attacks.
