VARANASI: With several projects on the riverfront of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham (Corridor) project area still awaiting formal approval by the state government, the nodal agency PWD has started the tender process for additional work worth Rs 55 crore.
Apart from ramp, features like Manikarnika Ghat Gate, Jalasen entry point, a Ganges View gallery, cafeteria and public utilities have been added to the project later in March and sent to the state government for approval.
Speaking to TOI on Tuesday, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Agarwal said, “In anticipation of the government’s approval, the process of tendering for the facilities was added later KV Dham The project has been started.”

With the change in alignment, there will be a direct access road and dedicated ramp from the entry point to the highest flood point from where escalators will be available, the official said.
While a platform of 80 meters in length and 11 meters in width for the construction of Ganga View Gallery will enable the visitors to enjoy the view of the Ganga as well as the corridor area, the lower platform will be used for events like Ganga Aarti and cultural activities. Officials said the formalities for seeking government approval were delayed due to the second wave of Covid-19, with officials hopeful that the process of sanctioning and awarding additional facilities would be finalized in a month. He said that the time limit for completion of the work would be different from the time limit for the preliminary work of the project.
