Telegram releases beta version 8.4 for Android with spoiler styling and emoji reactions – Times of India

Telegram has released beta version 8.4 for Android to developers and this update includes some anticipated features like emoji reactions and spoiler text styling. Android Police reports that it also comes with enhanced quality of life and it looks like the developers behind this app will never stop adding new features in the future. Telegram may not be considered the most secure messenger, but all these new features make it a convenient platform.
Reactions and spoilers have been added to the iOS beta for some time now, but before that there were no imagery and videos available on Android that showcased the features. Currently, the reactions and spoilers look almost identical on both iOS and Android.
Users can now long-press to highlight the text they want to send and select a new “spoiler” styling option. This new style option is expected to be available in the menu that will hide the message to the recipient(s) or you won’t tap it. This is expected to work for complete messages as well as for individual sections.
The Reaction feature will add the ability for users to react to a message where they will get 11 emoji options to choose from. They’ll be available when you select the speech bubbles you’ve sent or received because it’s now possible to react to your own messages. The emojis that will be available are Thums Up, Thums Down, Heart, Laughter, Party Popper, Fire, Shock etc. Users can choose to react with only one of the previously mentioned emoji and a new reaction from any user will override the emoji they previously selected.
The beta version also includes a snowy winter background that comes with snowflakes slowly falling down. It’s important to note that in order to use all these new features, both you and your friends need to be using the beta version. Reactions will be available to users who are on the latest version 8.4 and the new spoiler-style text will appear as regular text as is the case for everyone using the stable release.
Telegram Beta is not available on the Play Store and you have to download it from the company’s archive which is in Microsoft App Center, which it uses to distribute future versions of its apps. Telegram Beta installs as a separate application and will keep the stable version of Telegram on your phone.
