Team India is currently far behind in T20 cricket: Saba Karimi

Former wicket-keeper batsman Saba Karim feels that Team India is far behind in T20 cricket as the game has evolved a lot these days. India did not reach the semi-finals of 2021 t20 world cup After a scary start to the tournament with consecutive defeats against arch-rivals Pakistan and New Zealand. They finished third in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage. Despite a talented team, India failed to play fearless cricket against top teams for which their chances were wasted.

Karim said India need to set their own blueprint for playing the shortest format of the game.

“Team India is far behind if we look at how T20 cricket is evolving and changing these days. We need to prepare ourselves as soon as possible and have our own blueprint to play the shortest format. Like what should be our blueprint while setting goals and chasing,” Saba said during a discussion on the Khelneeti podcast

“We need to choose players accordingly for different roles. The 2021 World Cup was a huge learning for the think-tank of the Indian team to start preparing with this thought process for the upcoming World Cup tournament. ,

Meanwhile, two neighboring countries New Zealand and Australia will look to add a new chapter to their trans-Tasman rivalry in the final of the T20 World Cup. Both the teams will meet in a summit clash to try their hand at the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time.

New Zealand were not the favorites at the start of the tournament but Kane Williamson & Co created a mass show game after game to reach the final.

Karim said that other teams often underestimate New Zealand in big matches and do not do their homework properly.

“New Zealand is the team that everyone ignores, underestimates, and takes for granted. Any team that plays against New Zealand doesn’t do as much homework to its players. They feel that they are not a global T20 league. We are playing, there are no big names, so we can beat them easily.”
