Tata Motors launches new concept electric SUV Curvv; Likely to hit the market in 2024

new Delhi: Tata Motors on Wednesday unveiled a new electric vehicle concept.

The company had earlier released the teaser of the new model on its website and also tweeted about it.

According to reports, the upcoming model, the Curve, is expected to be an electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), which will join the league of Tigor and Nexon electric vehicles.

Tata Motors is planning a new mid-size SUV and according to auto sector watchers, this new launch could fit into the Nexon and Harrier line-up.

According to reports, the electric vehicles based on the new architecture will have a bigger battery and a proven range of 400-500 kms. The new vehicles will also be capable of faster and more efficient charging, the company said.

The Curvv EV will be positioned above the Nexon, making it the first mid-size electric SUV in Tata Motors’ EV portfolio. News reports say that the production version is set to launch in 2024.

Shailesh Chandra, managing director, passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors, had recently said that SUVs are the leader in overall sales and even electric vehicles are gaining momentum.

He also said that although the chip shortage situation has improved, it remains uncertain. He had said that the company was trying to resolve the issue with the suppliers.

Meanwhile, the proposed new electric SUV concept, which was launched by Tata Motors, will highlight the brand’s futuristic outlook on electric vehicles.

Tata Motors accounts for over 90% of the electric car market in India. It sold 19,000 EVs in the financial year ended March 31, up from 4,200 units in the previous year.
