Target is population control, bill may be introduced in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in cloud session

A bill on population control is likely to be introduced in Parliament in a few days. According to sources, BJP MP Rakesh Singh is likely to introduce a bill on the issue in the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming Badal session. Sources said BJP MP Ravi Kisan may introduce a bill in the Lok Sabha on the same issue.

In 2019, Rakesh’s ‘Private Members’ Bill’ (a bill introduced by a non-ministerial MP) was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The name of the bill was- Population Control Bill, 2019. The Bill proposes to give additional opportunities to those families who do not have more than two children. A person said on the condition of anonymity that Rakesh’s bill was selected for discussion through lottery in the second fortnight on Friday. Rakesh’s bill is currently at number two in the lottery list. “If Parliament runs according to the schedule, the bill can be introduced for discussion in the second week of the session,” he said.

BJP MP Robbie, on the other hand, has indicated to introduce a bill on population control in the lower house of Parliament. Which will bind the number of family members. BJP MP from Uttarakhand Ajay Bhatt, who recently took over as a Union Minister, also introduced a ‘Private Members’ Bill’ in 2019. It was about population control.

Uttar Pradesh released its population control policy on Sunday. Yogi Adityanath’s government has emphasized on creating awareness to stop population growth between 2021 and 2030. A maximum of two children have been questioned for population control. The policy states that a person with more than two children cannot apply for government jobs, receive government subsidies or participate in local elections. If a third child is born while in government service, the job will be lost. No project benefit will be given.
