Protesters set buses on fire and vandalized school property on Sunday over the suicide of a Class XII student in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi. Police said section 144 was imposed in the area after the violence broke out as thousands of people were demanding justice in front of the girl’s school.

According to news agency inputs yearsDespite the police’s effort to control the situation, the protesters pelted stones at the police van and damaged the vehicle. The report also mentioned that some policemen have also suffered injuries.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin tweeted in Tamil, “The situation in Kallakurichi is very bad. The culprits will definitely get punishment on the conclusion of the ongoing police investigation in the student’s death. I have ordered the Home Secretary and the Director General of Police to go to Kallakurichi. I request the public to keep calm by relying on the actions of the government.”

Police said the student died by suicide on the school premises and according to a note, she accused two teachers of the school of torturing her and forcing the students to study all the time.
Police said a case under section 174 (unnatural death) has been registered.
