Tamil Nadu: Tasmac earned a record Rs 33,811 crore in the last financial year. Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: State government-run liquor outlets, Tasmac, have generated revenue of Rs 33,811.14 crore during the last financial year, which is the highest ever since the exclusive privilege of retailing. IMFS was granted in 2003. The earnings in the last financial year were 33,133.24 crores. The government on Tuesday raised ₹500 to ₹25,000. announced a salary increase of TASMAC Staff including supervisors and salesmen with retrospective effect from April.
Incidentally, the previous AIADMK government had temporarily closed the outlets during the first wave of the COVID pandemic. A policy note tabled in the Assembly said, “Tasmac has earned Rs 7,907.61 crore in this financial year till July 31.
In order to contain the spread of COVID-19 and control the infection, the retail vending outlets and IMFS depots were following the standard operating procedures, as per the orders issued by the Government from time to time.
Tasmac operates 5,402 retail outlets and 2,808 bars in the state. Interference in the debate in the Assembly, Prohibition and Excise Minister V Senthil Balaji Said that there will be no online sale of liquor.
The minister was replying to the former power minister and AIADMK MLA P Thangamani, who cited a media report urging the government to reconsider its decision on online sales. “What would the neighbors think if the man orders online and walks out and the supplies are delivered to the woman at home. This move will affect the society,” the former minister said. To encourage cashless transactions at Tasmac, point of sale machines were installed at all retail outlets.
