Tamil Nadu: Miscreants Break Into 4 ATMs; Steal Over Rs 80 Lakh Cash

Tiruvannamalai (Tamil Nadu)Unidentified miscreants looted over Rs 80 lakh in cash by breaking into four ATMs in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Thieves looted four ATMs in three areas including Thenimalai, Polur and Kalaspakkam. Six special police teams have been formed and the police is conducting a thorough investigation in the entire district and its borders to nab the culprits.

The miscreants broke the lock of the ATM with a gas cutter and fled with the cash.

After withdrawing money from the ATM, the miscreants set fire to the ATM machines and CCTV cameras, so that the police could not trace them with fingerprints and CCTV footage. A senior police officer said that they broke ATM machines at four consecutive places, looted the money and then set the ATM machine on fire with a welding machine.

The CCTV cameras and hard disks installed in the ATM machines were burnt and the police is on the lookout for the thieves.
