Chennai : The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) leadership is in a position to douse the fire to persuade and persuade several party local leaders to file nomination papers against DMK candidates in the rural local body elections.

In Villupuram North, even the party’s district president was denied a seat by the DMK as the constituency remains open after the powerful Vanniyar party, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) pulled out of the AIADMK alliance. .
Congress will contest 9 out of 140 ward councilor posts in district panchayats and 63 out of 1,381 ward councilor posts in panchayat unions till Wednesday night.
The DMK denied the Congress any seats in panchayat unions in Anaikattu, Vellore and Katpadi, and even former Vellore panchayat president and popular Congress leader CK Devendran was denied a seat. He has filed his nomination papers on his own and the Congress state leadership is negotiating with the DMK state leadership for this seat.
In rural local body elections, both the DMK and the AIADMK depend heavily on the inputs of their respective district leadership, and the state leadership usually does not interfere with the candidate list provided by the district leadership.
Political analyst and director of the Socio-Economic Development Foundation, a Madurai-based think tank, R. Padmanabhan told IANS, “The leaders of the DMK district clearly know the strength and weakness of the Congress. Had the Congress had the strength like Tenkasi. More seats would have been provided in the district. Unfortunately, the Congress is in many parts of the state.” There is power expended in me and hence it is step-motherly treatment.”
