Chennai: Downtrend continues Tamil Nadu As many as 1,259 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday, with 10 districts reporting less than 10 infections.
A medical bulletin said that the fresh cases today took the total tally in the state to 26.83 lakh, while 20 people have succumbed to the virus, taking the toll to 35,853. The state had seen 1,280 cases on Wednesday. As many as 1,438 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, leaving a total of 26,32,092 with 15,451 active infections.
A total of 1,37,423 samples were tested, taking the cumulative number of samples tested so far to 4.90 crore.
Chennai and Coimbatore recorded the highest number of infections adding 163 and 143 cases respectively, while the rest were spread to other districts. Ten districts reported new cases below double digits, while 25 districts reported no fresh deaths.
The bulletin said that of the 20 deaths, two people were the lone victims of the infection without any pre-existing disease or co-morbidities.
