On September 7 this year, Stalin, in a statement under section 110, informed the state assembly about the intention of the state government to increase dearness allowance for its employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2022, the release said.
The Chief Minister also approved an additional Rs 170 crore as Pongal gifts for ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees, besides pensioners, special time employees and those retiring from such services and ex-village administrative officers. While category ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees will get Rs 3,000 as Pongal gift, for pensioners it will be Rs 500. People will get Rs 1,000 on special timings and Rs 500 for ex-village administrative officers and retirees at special times. Pongal gift from the state government.
Despite the state being reeling under debt burden, the Chief Minister has ordered the sanction of necessary amount for payment of dearness allowance keeping in mind the welfare of government employees and pensioners, the release said.
