Coimbatore: The headmistress of a government high school in Tiruppur district was suspended on Saturday for abusing scheduled caste students using their caste names and cleaning school toilets.
Based on inquiries from students and the headmaster, a report was submitted by the district education officer after which the district chief education officer (CEO) R Ramesh suspended the headmaster.
The government high school in Iduvai village has about 400 students of classes 6-10 and 14 teachers. headmaster geeta45 was working in the school for the last 3 years.
Speaking to TOI, the CEO said that he received a complaint from a section of students of class 9 and 10 from the school on Friday. While this includes students from the Scheduled Caste community, he said they were mistreated by the headmaster by using their caste names. Apart from this, he made clean toilets for scheduled caste students.
“I visited the school with the investigative team and Prima facie could be installed after which they were placed under suspension. A complaint has also been lodged in Fortunate Police station on the basis of inquiry,” said CEO R Ramesh.
