Tamil Nadu continues to increase rapidly in new Kovid-19 cases for the third consecutive day

Chennai: After witnessing a decline in the number of COVID cases for the past few months, Tamil Nadu today (July 30) recorded a steady rise in new coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day.

The ‘R’ factor of new cases

The sudden rise in fresh Covid-19 cases in the state is said to be due to people not following COVID-appropriate behaviour, making it difficult for the authorities to contain the outbreak. Sharing the border with Kerala is another factor for the rising number of cases in Tamil Nadu as Kerala is currently the hot spot for the coronavirus, contributing the highest number of cases to the country’s total toll.

New increase affects 20 districts of Tamil Nadu

There has been an increase in the Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu in the last four days and there has been an increase in the daily positive Covid-19 cases. In the state, over 16 districts have registered a spike in news cases of coronavirus on Thursday (July 29). As the state recorded 1,859 fresh cases yesterday (July 29), the number stood at 1,756 on July 28.

According to State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam’s statement, the increasing number of Covid-19 cases since last 3 days has resulted in more RT-PCR tests in the state. Expressing his concern over the situation, he said, “Unfortunately, not many people are wearing face masks.” He said that vigil has been increased along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.

dangerous growth

The alarming rise in infections in Kerala has raised concerns for neighboring Karnataka as the state closely monitored its COVID-19 situation. The state, which shares three borders with Kerala, is contemplating taking stringent measures and setting up medical facilities in the border areas.

Meanwhile, according to Kerala Health Minister Veena George, the next 2-3 weeks will be crucial for the state and urged people to avoid gatherings and stick to the COVID protocol.
