Tamil actor-director RNR Manohar dies at the age of 61 from Kovid-19

Several Tamil-Telugu film actors have expressed grief over the director’s demise.

Tamil actor, writer and director RNR Manohar passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 61. Film personalities were afflicted by the novel coronavirus And was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Chennai for the last 20 days.

RNR Manohar acted in over 50 films including Mrityu and Teddy. He was the brother of DMK state council member NR Elango. Manohar’s death has left the film industry in deep shock. Several Tamil-Telugu film actors have expressed grief over the director’s demise.

As per reports, RNR Manohar was rushed to a city hospital in Chennai due to the severity of the Covid-19 complications. The actor-director breathed his last on Wednesday morning. Manohar began his film career as an assistant director to Ravi Kumar and later worked as a writer and assistant director for several films including Kolangal, Pudumapithan and Tenavan.

The Tamil director-turned-actor did cameos in films and worked as an assistant director. He was also known for his comedy scene with Vivek in Tenvan. Manohar made his directorial debut in 2009 with the film Masalamani starring Nakul and Sunaina.

After the success of his first film, Manohar directed the 2011 police drama Vellore Maavattam starring Nanda and Poorna.

In 2012, Manohar went through a dark phase when his son Ranjan drowned and died while training in a swimming pool at a private school. Disappointed by the tragic incident, the director-actor stopped directing films and stayed away from his regular creative work.
