Taliban member says ‘council may rule Afghanistan’: report

Afghanistan may now be governed by a ruling council, a senior member of the Wahidullah Hashimi terrorist group told Reuters news agency. He also said that the Taliban’s supreme leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada, however, is likely to remain in charge overall.

According to Hashimi, Akhundzada is likely to play a role above the head of the council. The role is expected to be like that of the President of the country

Hashimi further told Reuters that the Taliban would also reach out to former pilots and soldiers of the Afghan armed forces to join their ranks.

According to the news agency, Hashimi has access to the group’s decision-making.
