‘Take BJP to every village’: Party’s Assam chief asks leaders to further strengthen the organization

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may be a strong force in Assam, having won the 2021 election by a whopping margin, but its major task still remains to be done – to further strengthen the organisation. Hence the newly appointed president of Assam BJP Bhabesh Kalita has directed the party leaders to ensure that the BJP reaches every village and every household.

Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Kalita says, “We have instructed our leaders to go to the villages and know how the last person in line feels about the BJP and the BJP’s development in the state. We We are also constantly seeking feedback on how the schemes of the Central Government and State Government are reaching the end user.

Speaking on the same, Dr Rajdeep Roy, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Silchar and also the Vice President of the party, told CNN-News18, “Our leadership has asked us to do a very simple and important thing that we need to do in the villages. Have to go And see the impact of government initiatives in the most rural areas in the state and work on strengthening the organization at the village and block level.”

The state president has directed the leaders to visit these villages and spend the night with them to understand their difficulties, their aspirations and areas of improvement.

There are many schemes being run by the Assam government for the benefit of different sections of the society among which Arunodaya Yojana is one of the most popular. This scheme is to empower women and under this Rs 830 is provided every month to the female head of the family to empower the economically weaker people. Another important scheme of the government includes the Arundhati Swarna Yojana under which the government will provide Rs 30,000 to newly wed brides at the time of marriage.

The state government has also started schemes for the students to pursue higher education. Online application can be made for Abhinandan Education Subsidy Scheme. There are many other schemes including old age home pension for all, free health insurance and crop insurance for farmers which the government is following very closely.

In 2016, the BJP came to power in Assam with Sarbananda Sonowal as the Chief Minister. In 2021, the margin of victory widened and Himanta Biswa Sarma was made the CM. For the first time in the history of Assam, BJP has been successful in forming the government in the state for two consecutive terms. In the 2021 assembly elections, BJP managed to secure 33.21% votes and Himanta won by winning his election from Jalukbari for the fifth time in a row.
