One of the biggest positives in Sri Lanka’s game was the return between runs of captain Aaron Finch and David Warner in the top order. Warner was particularly criticized for his form in the IPL since being sidelined by Sunrisers Hyderabad and he answered all his doubts with a belligerent half-century. The game against southeast England is expected to be tough.

“He has clearly got a good all-rounder. He bats deep and has many options with the ball. They are also highly confident. We know with their batting they are going to work hard, and with bowling you know very well what you’re going to get, so like I said, it’s putting pressure,” Warner said. ‘Minimize the damage, it changes their mindset about what they have to do,’ he said.

Australia’s bowlers, the pace trio of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, have lived up to the expectations, while leg-spinner Adam Zampa showed the value he brought to the table against Sri Lanka. The Lankans started well but Zampa completely changed the pace of the game with his double strike in the middle overs. The only cause for concern will be the bowling performance of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, who conceded 51 runs in four overs on Thursday.
