If you were hoping to order your lunch on Zomato or Swiggy on Wednesday afternoon, you might have been disappointed. This is because both the online food ordering apps- Swiggy and Zomato- are facing downtime. Several users expressed their disappointment on Twitter.
While the front end of both the apps is working, people are complaining that their payment is being deducted but the orders are not being received by the restaurant. “Place an order from Domino’s Pizza through your app. Payment deducted. I called Domino’s they said we have not received any such order yet. Neither chat is working nor customer care is picking up calls It is,” tweeted an angry Swiggy customer.
Without divulging much about the issue, Swiggy acknowledged that there is a technical issue with the app. “We are currently unable to process your request as we are facing technical hurdles. Not to worry, our best mind is on this and we will be up and running soon,” said a Swiggy customer on Twitter service executive said.
Zomato also confirmed that they are facing a similar problem. The customer care executive of Zomato tweeted a standard reply, “Hello, we are facing a temporary glitch. Please rest assured that our team is working on it and we will be working soon.”
It is advisable not to order food on Zomato and Swiggy until both the companies confirm that their services are back online. This is because your payment may be deducted but your food may not arrive as the order cannot be placed due to a technical fault.
As far as technical reasons are concerned, both Swiggy and Zomato rely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AWS is said to be facing server issues, leading to customers like Swiggy, Zomato and others. Downtime is encountered.
