Margao: Speed trial was conducted on the newly laid second track on Margao-Chandor-Kurchoram.SanvordemThe South Western Railway (SWR) section was operated by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) on Thursday evening. During the trial run, the train ran at a speed of 124 kmph, Chief PRO, SWRHubli, Anish Hegde said.
The Margao-Chandor-Kurchoram (Sanvordem) section is a part of the Hospet-Hubli-Tiniget-Vasco double tracking project.
Earlier in the day, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Southern Circle, Bangalore AK Rai conducted a trolley inspection of 15.64 km second railway line. motor trolley inspection started curchorem railway station and ended at Margo railway station. Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli, SWR, Arvind Malkhede, General Manager (Projects), Goa, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Shashibhushan SahuSenior officers of various departments of SWR were also present during the inspection along with CRS.
Sources said that once the CRS submits its inspection report, the SWR will act on the suggestions and complete the improvements, if any, recommended by the CRS before commissioning of the second track. Sources said the second track is likely to be commissioned soon.
The SWR has already scheduled the work of converting the train signaling system from single track mode to double track between October 3 and October 10, before the commissioning of the Madgaon-Chandor-Kurchoram (Sanvordem) double track route.
