Sushant Singh Rajput death case: The Narcotics Control Bureau in its draft charges filed in the drug case related to the late actor’s death has claimed that Rhea Chakraborty received and handed over multiple deliveries of ganja from co-accused including her brother Shoik . to Rajput. The draft charges state that “accused number 10 Rhea Chakraborty received multiple deliveries of ganja from accused Samuel Miranda, Shoik, Dipesh Sawant and others and handed over those deliveries to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput”.
She paid for those deliveries between March 2020 and September that year at the behest of Shoik and the late actor.
As per the draft allegations, Rhea’s brother Shoik was in regular contact with drug peddlers and had received multiple deliveries from co-accused after ordering ganja and charas. These deliveries were handed over to the Rajputs.
The filing of the draft charges sets the tone for the determination of the charges, after which the trial begins. However, before framing the charges, the court has to first decide the acquittal plea of the accused.
So far, four people, including Kshitij Prasad, former executive producer of Dharmatic Entertainment, have filed for discharge in the case. Prasad, in his plea filed through advocate Nikhil Maneshinde, claimed that he is innocent and there is no prima facie material to maintain the charges against him.
The applicant has been unnecessarily involved in the present proceedings by NCB in a malicious manner. Prasad’s argument added. Special Judge VG Raghuvanshi, who is hearing matters related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, has fixed the matter for hearing on July 27.
Chakraborty was arrested in the case in September 2020 and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court a month later.
Apart from Riya, her brother Shoik Chakraborty and several others have also been made accused in the case, most of whom are currently out on bail.
The NCB launched an investigation into alleged drug use in the film and television industry following Rajput’s death on June 14, 2020.
