‘Suryakumar To Watch Out For’: Rohit Sharma’s Tweet From 2011 Goes Viral After Sky’s 100

Suryakumar Yadav captured the show with his maiden international century in Nottingham on Sunday. Although India After losing the third T20I against England by 17 runs, the right-handed batsman smashed a solid 155-ball 117 that he deserves a berth for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Suryakumar came in the middle when India were reduced to 13/2 in 2.4 overs and needed more than 200 runs to win the game. Soon after they came in the middle, India lost their captain Rohit Sharma for 11 runs and the scorecard read 31/3.

But when Suryakumar joined hands with Shreyas Iyer and clean bowled the England bowlers, the matter turned around. The duo added 119 runs for the fourth wicket in the next 10 overs, leaving the Men in Blue too much of a victim.

Unfortunately, Suryakumar fell victim to Moeen Ali in the final over. He finished with 117 runs, becoming only the fifth Indian batsman to score a century in T20Is. His innings hit 14 fours and six sixes. With his dismissal, India had also lost hope of winning the match. They could only manage 198/9 in reply to England’s 215/7.

Despite India’s defeat, cricket pundits heaped praise on Suryakumar, who played a memorable innings on English soil. Meanwhile, an old tweet by Rohit Sharma started going viral on social media, showing Mumbai battered.

Back in 2011, Rohit had tweeted about attending BCCI’s annual awards ceremony and mentioned Suryakumar as a special talent.

“Here’s done with the BCCI awards in Chennai..Some exciting cricketers are coming..Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai to look into the future!” Rohit tweeted on 10 December 2011.

It was the culmination of all the difficult yards traveled by Suryakumar to get an opportunity to represent his country. After a tremendous performance in the IPL, the Mumbai cricketer finally made it to the Indian team during a bilateral series at home against England last year.

He single-handedly won games for his franchise Mumbai Indians in the IPL and continued to perform in Indian colours.
