Defense officials said the Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft’s tire burst after landing at the Pune airport on Wednesday afternoon, temporarily obstructing the runway. Pune International Airport is a civilian enclave operated from the Indian Air Force (IAF) station at Lohegaon, which is used to train IAF pilots.
It is the base of IAF’s frontline Sukhoi aircraft. A statement from the defense said, “A Su30 MKI aircraft’s tire burst while landing at the Pune airport, blocking the runway. Air Force personnel cleared the aircraft in record time, leaving civilians in the afternoon of March 30.” Traffic was minimally disrupted.”
