Kanpur: The Samajwadi Party (SP) suffered a setback in Kanpur on Wednesday when its members including six councilors Suhail Ahmed | left the party and joined Congress Party in front of State Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu.
These are the ones leaving SP Suhail Ahmed, who is the leader of the Samajwadi Party councilors in the Kanpur Municipal Corporation house, Shibbu Ansari, Shashi, Rakesh Sahu, Abid Ali and Mahendra Pratap Singh. Congress MLA Suhail Ansari was present on the occasion when Suhail Ahmed and others joined the Congress party in Lucknow.
they all come from corporators Sisamau Legislative Assembly seat. SP candidate Irfan solanki In the 2017 election, he won this seat by defeating BJP candidate Suresh Awasthi.
Changing the loyalty of SP councilors is a big setback for the party as it is believed that it will be a big challenge for the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to TOI, Suhail Ahmed said, “Everyone knows about the condition of Samajwadi Party in Kanpur. Its MLA Irfan Solanki has done nothing for his constituency in the last four years, and no development work has been done in Sisamau in the last two decades. Besides, Solanki’s personal behavior is also questionable.”
Suhail’s differences with Irfan Solanki are not new. He had turned rebel in the 2017 elections and even filed his nomination from the Sisamau assembly constituency. But after the intervention of religious leaders and strategists, he withdrew his nomination.
According to Congress party sources, Suhail Ahmed may get a ticket to contest from Sisamau seat.
Suhail’s transition from SP to Congress will not only make the road difficult for Irfan Solanki but will also make the election of Sisamau constituency more interesting.
