Sudha Chandran stopped at the airport due to prosthetic limb, appeals to PM Modi for help

Popular film and television actress Sudha Chandran, who is also a proficient Bharatnatyam dancer, posted a video on Instagram on Thursday complaining of constant trouble at airports during security checks due to her prosthetic leg. Sudha urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi To issue a special card to senior citizens like him to avoid being grilled by airport authorities during each trip.

The 56-year-old actress also tagged PM Modi in her video post and requested him to resolve the issue. Sudha lost her leg in a road accident at a young age, but continued to grow up on a prosthesis.

In her video message, Sudha said that she has made India proud with her Bharatnatyam dance despite having an artificial limb. However, the actress said that every time she is stopped at airports and asked to remove her prosthetic leg due to security reasons.

Sharing a video message, the actress wrote in the caption, “Absolutely hurt….it is very sad to pass through this grill every time….Hope my message reaches out to state and central government officials. Will… and expect quick action.”

“When I request the CISF officials in security to kindly do an ETD (Explosive Trace Detector) test for my prosthesis, they still want me to remove my prosthesis and show them. Is it humanly possible Modi ji? Is this what our country is talking about?” Sudha asked.

TV actor Karenvir Bohra reposted the video on his Instagram account and demanded a facility to ensure hassle-free security checks for people in such a situation. Commenting on Karanvir’s reposted video, Sudha said that she is “overwhelmed” with the support and thanked everyone for spreading her message. “Because this is not an individual fight, it is a fight for a community at large,” she said.

Sudha is a recipient of the National Award for her role in the 1985 Telugu film Mayuri. He has worked in many TV shows including Kahin Kisi Roz and Naagin.
