'Such a down to earth person': Indian entrepreneur and family on meeting Dubai ruler in lift

Indian entrepreneur Anas Rehman Junaid and his family were holidaying in Dubai when they got the surprise of a lifetime when they bumped into the ruler of Dubai in an elevator. Mr Anas, who is the founder and managing director of wealth research agency Hurun India, shared pictures of the meeting on Instagram.

“What are the chances of meeting @hhshkmohd in the elevator?? He is a down to earth person. He graciously allowed us to click several pictures and also had a nice chat with Michelle,” the Mumbai-based businessman wrote in the caption.

According to Khaleej TimesMr Anas said he was riding the lift with his family from the 22nd floor of Atlantis The Royal on Saturday when Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, stepped into his . circle.

“We were surprised,” Mr Anas told the outlet, “He came into the lift and was very friendly. He put his arms around my daughter and asked her if she knew who he was”. The entrepreneur also said that Shaikh interacted with his family and posed for several photographs before leaving, leaving the family in high spirits.

Mr Anas said his daughter and son were excited to meet the ruler of Dubai. “We were all jumping with excitement when we got off the lift,” he said.

“We couldn’t believe we had actually met and spoken to him. In fact, my wife later took a photo of the lift and shared it on social media, saying it was her favorite lift in the world.” Then we sent the photos to our school friends and family groups before posting them on social media,” Mr. Anas told the outlet.

Furthermore, speaking about his meeting with Sheikh, Hurun MD said, “I had heard about his friendly behavior with people but experiencing something different. After talking to my daughter, she turned towards us. He turned and asked us where we were from and what we do. After that, he graciously obliged for a picture. My son doesn’t usually smile for pictures, but this time he had the biggest smile on his face.”
