DRDO has successfully test-fired the Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) off the Odisha coast. This missile can also be fired at an angle of 90 degrees from the ground.

DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) officials said that this air defense system being developed for naval warships can easily destroy targets up to a distance of 15 km. The test was conducted in the presence of senior officers of the Navy.

DRDO working on anti drone technology
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that DRDO is working on indigenous anti-drone technology to deal with the increasing drone attacks on the border. This technology will soon be provided to the security forces. On the occasion of 57th Raising Day of BSF (Border Security Force), Shah said that border security is a matter of national security for the government.

Agni-5 missile successfully test-fired
Last month, Agni-5 missile was successfully test-fired from Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. This missile has the capability to hit targets up to a distance of 5000 km. Its JD will cover the whole of Asia including China and Pakistan. This was the eighth Test of Agni-5. Agni-5 is India’s first and only intercontinental ballistic missile, developed by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
