The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Jharkhand Police has arrested three people, including a CRPF jawan. They are accused of supplying arms to the banned organization CPI (Maoist).

Jharkhand ATS SP Prashant Anand told in Ranchi on Tuesday that a gang has been busted. It supplied arms to banned organizations. Those arrested include CRPF jawan Avinash Kumar alias Chunnu Sharma. He hails from Imamganj in Gaya district and is currently posted in the 182nd Battalion of CRPF, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. His two associates Rishi Kumar, resident of Benipur Patna and Pankaj Kumar Singh resident of Simri village, Sakra Muzaffarpur are included.

Huge amount of weapons recovered
Officials said that the police have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the accused. This recovery was made after the arrest of Anivash and Rishi with the help of Bihar Police in Patna. Jharkhand Police arrested Pankaj Singh from Ranchi.

The jawan was missing from duty for four months
ATS SP said that Avinash had joined CRPF in 2011. He was posted in Pulwama since 2017, but was missing from duty for four months. Earlier he was posted in 112th Battalion at Latehar and 204th Battalion Cobra at Jagdalpur.

Prima facie it seems that the accused were in the process of becoming a millionaire overnight. He has also confessed to supplying ammunition to Naxalites and criminals in the past. They were in touch with jailed gangsters and used social media accounts.

An-47 and INSAS rifle were also given in huge quantity.
ATS SP Anand said that the accused said during interrogation that they had also supplied AK-47 and INSAS rifles in large quantities to the banned organisations. 450 rounds of cartridges have been recovered from them, which are used in INSAS rifles.
