Success Story: Know how Auto Driver’s son Ansar Shaikh Became the Youngest IAS Officer of India

Ansar Shaikh, an IAS officer from Jalna village in Maharashtra, has become the youngest IAS officer in India. Ansar, son of an auto driver, Anas Shaikh had a tough time growing up but despite all odds, he cleared the UPSC exam with flying colors.

During his childhood days, Ansar Shaikh’s family asked him to drop out of school due to their poor financial condition. Once his father even reached his school to get Ansar out of school. But, there his teacher convinced his father not to do so. He explained to his father that Ansar was good at studies and should get a chance to study further. However, due to financial issues, his brother dropped out in 7th standard and started working in a garage. Ansar had then secured 91 per cent marks in the 12th board examination.

Ansar Shaikh later graduated in Political Science from Fergusson College, Pune. He secured 73 per cent marks during graduation. To make ends meet, he worked almost 12 hours every day for three consecutive years while preparing for the UPSC exam.

After his college he joined coaching for UPSC preparation for one year. Considering his financial condition, the coaching academy had waived off a part of his fees.

Despite facing so many difficulties, Ansar Sheikh was very clear about his goal. He secured 361st rank in his first attempt in UPSC exam in the year 2015. At that time his age was only 21 years. He is the youngest IAS officer of the country. No one has been able to break this record of his till now.
