Subodh Mohite has now joined the Nationalist Congress Party along with Shiv Sena, Congress and Swabhimani Shetkari Sagatana. Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: Former Union Minister Subodh Mohite joined on Friday Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the presence of the party chief Sharad Pawar, and said that his next step was to work for “the betterment of the farmers of Vidarbha”.
Mohite started the journey of electoral politics Shiv Sena when he was elected as a member of Parliament from Ramtek in 1999. Later he joined the Congress and then joined the Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan.
Asked why he chose not to return to his previous parties, as he is also a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, Mohite said it was Pawar’s charisma that attracted him to the NCP.
Talking to TOI, Mohite said, “Everyone knows that (Sharad) Pawar is a leader who is looked up to by the whole country. The experience, knowledge and acumen that Pawar possesses is not seen in anyone. When it comes to debating issues, no one can speak like him.
Mohite says he has no electoral ambitions to join the NCP. “So far my role is to strengthen the party in Vidarbha. My focus will be on the farmers and the problems faced by them. Farmers are facing many problems and solutions have to be found from the ground level and I will spend my time there,” Mohite said.
The veteran politician is known to have won the Ramtek Lok Sabha seat, which was long known as a Congress stronghold. “When I contested the Lok Sabha elections in 1999, all the MLAs in the constituency belonged to opposition parties. Still I was successful in winning the seat for Shiv Sena. It is this grassroots strategy making skill that I will bring to the NCP and strengthen it in Vidarbha.
He was the Union Minister of Heavy Industries Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2004
