  • Needed because: So far, the results depend on the sample of writing and the experience of the experts.

If it can be known from the writing itself whether the writer is a man or a woman, then it will be of great help to the forensic team in reaching the real culprit. Now that is possible. Instead of a sample of writing and a report based only on the experience of experts, its results can now be given in a scientific way. This will greatly reduce the chances of a mistake. It has been made public in the edition of the Australian General of Forensic Investigation released on 21 July.

This will now help forensic experts in preventing incidents like attempt to make a case of suicide after a murder or writing a suicide note on behalf of another person to implicate someone after suicide. It stars Rajkumar, Manjot Bains, Rajesh Verma and Neha Verma along with Dr Vishal Sharma. Dr Vishal is from Panjab University. Apart from PU, Forensic Science Laboratory Rohini Delhi, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory Mandi Himachal and Forensic Science Laboratory Madhuban Karnal Haryana have obtained this result through research.

The study involved 150 people, of which 75 were women and 75 were men.
Dr Vishal says that many such studies have been done abroad. In the study he did on Indians here, the model used was not used abroad. 150 people with an average age of 29 years were selected in which the number of men and women was equal. He has used logistic regression model (related to probabilities). In this model, it is taken care of in which pattern most women or men write while writing.

When the database of writings was studied, it was found that 80% of the results were found to be correct in the case of women through this model. That is, through this model, the writing is of a woman, it was successful up to 80% in identifying it. In the case of men, this success was 73.3 percent.

Now this study will be done on Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu for better results
Dr Vishal says that at present this study has been done on English which is not our mother tongue, so now we will do the same research on Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. Results can be better in your own language. He says that this is a new technology and if there is a database of handwriting, then software can also be prepared from it. This will make it easier to work.
