The agitators, led by the All India Students’ Association (AISA), had gathered to protest against the alleged incident and the administration’s response to it.
A students’ group on Monday claimed that around 15 of its activists were detained from outside the Indraprastha College for Women, where they had gathered to protest against the alleged harassment of girl students during a festival last week.
However, the Delhi Police has denied this allegation.
The agitators, led by the All India Students’ Union (AISA), had gathered to protest against the alleged incident and the administration’s response to it.
A large number of police personnel were deployed while the college gates were barricaded.
“Around 15 AISA workers were detained from the college gate and taken to the Burari police station,” alleged Abhigyan, president of the Delhi unit of the students’ union.
However, a senior police officer has denied this allegation.
Around 10-15 protesters had gathered outside the college gate. They were removed peacefully,” he said.
The officer said that no one has been taken into custody.
Students of Delhi University’s affiliated Indraprastha College for Women had last week alleged that some men “harassed several students” by climbing the compound wall of the institute during a festival.
Over the past few days, hundreds of students have staged several demonstrations demanding the resignation of the newly appointed principal of the college over the security lapses during the annual festival and its alleged authoritarian steps.
