Ahmedabad: IMD has predicted bad weather for Sunday strong winds Close Gujarat Coast With heavy rains lashing parts of the state till July 14, and fishermen advised not to venture into Arabian Sea.
Ahmedabad Center India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast high sea waves of 2.5-3.6 meters between Jakhau and Diu along North Gujarat coast during the next two days.
“Gust wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely along and off north and south Gujarat coasts and north Arabian Sea from July 11-14,” the Meteorological Department said.
“Fishermen are advised not to venture further along north and south Gujarat coasts and northwest Arabian Sea from July 11-14,” it said.
In its latest bulletin, the Meteorological Department also said at several places in Gujarat, including in the Saurashtra-Kutch region, and Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar HaveliDaman and Diu will receive light to moderate rain from July 11 to 14.
Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely over parts of South Gujarat.
According to the IMD, Gujarat has received 48 per cent below average rainfall so far during the current monsoon season.
The IMD said that out of the total 33 districts of Gujarat, only three have received normal rainfall so far this season, 21 have received “short” rainfall, while nine have recorded rainfall classified under the “major deficiency” category.
