The dog feeders, however, say that the court has not issued any such order and that some stray dog ​​haters have misinterpreted the newspaper report.
“There are many societies which have put up notices prohibiting the feeding of dogs. Some members of the society also oppose having food on the footpath and because of this we have to feed them at night and at odd hours,” Shah told TOI. He said that around 500 people from different societies of Ahmedabad have complained to him that he is facing opposition for feeding the dog.
Binaifer Lalkaka, a resident of Anmol Tower in Naranpura area of ​​Ahmedabad, had made a designated place in the society to feed the dogs so that the society members and the children playing were not disturbed.
“The members of the society have put up newspaper cuttings on the notice board with an order prohibiting the feeding of stray dogs. Now I feed the dogs after midnight when no one is around. The members of the society committee have confiscated the utensils used for giving water to the dogs.
Tejal Mistry and his group, which has more than 50 members, feed stray dogs in Rajkot. He started the initiative during the lockdown. “Since the reports are published in newspapers, it has become difficult for us to persuade people to show sympathy towards animals,” Mistry said.
