In the year 1896, a boy was born to Bihari Rathore in Kheda Rathore village, 50 km from Agra. The boy was born in a poor Rajput family. As he grew older, his ability to lead increased. By the time he reached the age of 25, he started resolving the conflicts in the village. Despite being poor, by the age of 43, that is, by the year 1939, his stature in the village increased so much that his decision on any dispute in the village was considered as the final decision.

This thing was not liked by some Brahmins and moneylenders of the village. All united and took possession of the man’s land. The man had an understanding of the law, so went to the police for help. The moneylenders had already stuffed money in the mouth of the police. He scolded the man and drove him back. Now even the little land that that man had was not left. In such a situation, he could not find any other way but to become a rebel.

Today in the story of dacoit 13, the story of the same dacoit Man Singh who is considered to be the biggest dacoit of the country. Why do people worship the killer of 32 policemen even today by building a temple? Let’s know…

Man Singh laid the dead bodies in the village and the ravine came out
In the year 1928, Brahmins and moneylenders first occupied the land and then got Man Singh falsely sued for loot and beating. The police beat up Man Singh mercilessly and released him after keeping him in jail for a few days. As soon as Man Singh came back from jail, he came to know that Brahmins had beaten up his brother, blood was coming out of his mouth. The only crime of the brother was that he had filled water from the Brahmins’ well.

All this was not seen from Man Singh. On 30 January 1928, Man Singh, along with some of his family members, attacked those Brahmins and moneylenders. Swords, sticks, spears and guns were all used in the village that day. Man Singh set their houses and barns on fire. That day there was only the sound of screams in the village. Man Singh was so angry that he thrashed two Brahmins and a moneylender to death. Many people were also injured in that attack.

After this incident, the police went after Man Singh and his family. Man Singh leaves for the rugged with family and some close people.

10 years in jail, police killed 2 sons
Man Singh’s heart could not be felt in the ravines of Chambal. One day Man Singh went to his village. As soon as he reached the village, the police caught him and the British court sentenced him to life imprisonment. Man Singh reached the jail. Meanwhile, the police killed his two absconding sons Jaswant Singh and Dhanwan Singh in an encounter. This news had set Man Singh on fire. He spent his days in jail by sipping blood in Man Singh.

Man Singh was released by the court in 1939. Man Singh came out of jail after spending about 10 years in jail, his hair had turned white, but history was yet to be written. When she reached the village after coming out of jail, after 10 years, seeing her husband’s face, wife Rukmani Devi burst into tears. There was a spark inside Man Singh to avenge the death of his sons, but seeing the face of his wife, tears came out of his eyes too. He decided to lead a simple life contented with his two surviving sons.

On hearing Man Singh leading a normal life, the mother woke up inside the wife Rukmani Devi. Rukmani, wiping her tears, said to Man Singh, “Avenge the death of sons or wear bangles for life.” In response Man Singh said, “You know the oath of Thakurs. Once ravaged, there will be no way back.”

At the same time, Man Singh looks at his two surviving sons, his brother Tehsildar Singh and says, “Let’s do justice to blood.”

First killed Talfiram and then killed 32 policemen
In March 1939, Man Singh reaches Rugged with some of his family members. Apart from the family, he formed a gang of 17 people by joining some other people. Man Singh first targeted his biggest enemy, Pandit Talfiram. Actually Talfiram had given information about Man Singh’s sons to the police. After this, Man Singh found and killed all the policemen who had done the encounter of his sons. He had killed a total of 32 policemen.

In 1941, Talfiram was killed by Man Singh, his son was killed, his relatives were burnt, their houses were set on fire. The terror of his name had spread throughout Chambal. After all these killings, Man Singh had become a headache for the police. Man Singh changed after killing all his enemies.

would rob lakhs and distribute all the money among the poor
In the police records, 112 cases were registered against Man Singh only for robbery. Actually, after eliminating his enemies, Man Singh started robbing the rich. At that time there was no influential person in the vicinity of Chambal whom Man Singh had not robbed. Along with this, Man Singh had a rule that he did not rob any person on the way, nor did he kidnap him.

Man Singh used to loot lakhs of rupees from the rich and distribute all the looted money among the poor. He also used to get his daughters married. During his stay, he did not allow a single poor person to be oppressed. He helped thousands of people in every way, so people started respecting him. Due to all these works, people started calling him the king of Chambal with respect.

Man Singh had great respect for women in his heart. His gang used to give protection to the women on the way. Due to the fear of Man Singh, no member of the gang had the courage to tease a woman. Once Sultana, a dacoit of his gang, was accused of rape. Man Singh had thrown the robber out of the gang by beating him badly. Man Singh was strongly against raising hands on women and children.

Till one or two years before the country got independence, the popularity of Man Singh had increased so much that if he stood in a village, hundreds of people would gather. Once Man Singh organized a rally. More than 3 lakh people had gathered in that rally.

Man Singh’s ability to deliver speeches was mesmerizing. Subbarao, associated with RSS, says, “When I heard Man Singh giving a speech, I had lost faith in the news published in the newspapers about him till now. I was surprised to see his speech style. His personality was like Robinhood. “

Encounter with the police 90 times, the police was able to do the encounter by feeding poison
Man Singh had 90 encounters with the police in 16 years, but not a single bullet of the police could touch Man Singh. By the year 1955, 185 murder cases had been registered against Man Singh. The police somehow wanted to end the terror of Man Singh.

The government formed a special team to kill Man Singh. The team was led by Major Babbar Singh Thapa. Man Singh was very smart. It was not easy to kill him in a normal encounter. Babbar Thapa made a move. An informer informed Babbar that Man Singh was going to stay at a house in Laun village in Bhind district.

The police had already reached that house. Scared the owner of that house and asked to mix poison in the milk of Man Singh and his entire gang. As soon as Man Singh’s gang came, they got poison and milk was served. All the people fell unconscious as soon as they drank the milk. In this, the police came and gunned down his entire gang including Man Singh. Thus ended Man Singh’s terror. Even today it is written in the diary of MP Police that before Man Singh, there had never been a dreaded dacoit in the country before.

After 16 years of Man Singh’s death, a film was made on him named ‘Daku Man Singh’. The main character in the film was played by Dara Singh. The film was directed by Babu Bhai Mistry. The film was a super hit.

In the year 1984, the people of ‘Kheda Rathore’ village of Bah tehsil of Agra district together built a temple for it. Even today the people of Man Singh’s village worship him like a god by going to that temple.

In the year 2019, the film Son Chiriya, inspired by the life of Man Singh, was made. Manoj Bajpayee played the character of Man Singh in this film. This hit film was directed by Abhishek Chaubey.

Folk songs started being made in the name of Man Singh, dramas and gimmicks started happening.
Many Rajput folk songs and drama-nautanki based on the life of Man Singh are in vogue even today. There is a famous folk song on the life of Man Singh, “Raasta chalta koi nahi luta, na nahi snatch from sisters”, “Whatever you get, you have distributed, sisters are wearing rice.” This means, Man Singh did not rob any person walking on the road nor snatched any girl’s necklace, whatever he got, he distributed it among the poor.
