STF seizes illicit liquor worth Rs 1 crore. Kanpur News – Times of India

Jhansi: In a joint operation, STF (Lucknow) and Jhansi Police seized 2,481 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 1 crore from a godown on Saturday. Five people have been arrested for running an inter-state liquor racket.
SP (City) Vivek Tripathi said that the joint team engaged in locating the liquor racket for the last few days finally raided a warehouse on Kanpur-Gwalior bypass where liquor used to be stocked. Apart from this, the police have also seized a truck, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, cash of Rs 6,850, two ATM cards and two fake number plates used for carrying goods.
The accused have been identified as Paramjeet Singh, Harpal Singh, both from Haryana and Kripa Shankar Nishad, Manoj Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav from Pratapgarh.
Liquor, after being procured directly from distilleries in Haryana, was sold in states like Arunachal Pradesh, where tax rates are lower.
