The popular handheld gaming device finally lets you transfer games from PC. here are the details.

The Steam Deck is a popular handheld device for gamers developed by Valve, the company popular for the famous Counter-Strike franchise. And now, you can actually install and play games from PC on the handheld device, thanks to a new feature that has been added to the platform.

Steam Deck users now have a tool called ‘Local Network Game Transfer’ that makes this seamless transfer possible, without the need for an active internet connection. This feature is rather useful as gamers who also play on PC and want to transfer the game to a portable gaming device can do so using this tool.

Steam offered this feature via beta update this week, and we expect Valve to roll it out to a full release in the coming months.

Steam noted that if you ever lose connectivity while transferring a game from PC to Steam Deck, the device will automatically reconnect to the internet to download the rest of the game.

The company also mentioned that the local transfer feature only works if both the devices have the beta version of Steam to send the files. Steam also states that local transfer of games is only possible from PC to Steam Deck.

The other important thing that’s missing from a local transfer is that you transfer entire games, not just the saved parts of the games you want to transfer. So, yes, there are limitations to how the transfer tool works but it is still nice to see the transition from PC to gaming device without the need for internet all the time.
