SRINAGAR: A week after the drone attack on the Jammu Air Force Station in the early hours of June 27, officials Srinagar Prohibited storage, sale, Righthandjob Use and transportation drone and similar Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the territorial jurisdiction of the district.
Issuing an order to this effect, Srinagar District Magistrate Ejaz Assad He said that in order to secure air space near important installations and highly populated areas, it is imperative to discontinue the use of drones in all social and cultural gatherings so as to eliminate any risk of loss of life and property.
The order states that those who already have drone cameras/similar UAVs will have to submit it to the local police station along with proper receipt.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has provided draft guidelines/standard operating protocols to regulate the use of drones in terms of weight classification, unique identification number, height/altitude restriction, speed restriction, enforcement/panel action etc.” reads the order.
“In view of the security situation, besides concerns of breach of confidentiality, nuisance and trespass, it is extremely dangerous to allow UAVs to roam the skies within the territorial jurisdiction of Srinagar district,” the order said.
With regard to the use of drones by government departments, the order says: “Furthermore, the government departments using drones for mapping, surveying and monitoring in agriculture, environmental protection and disaster mitigation shall be permitted to undertake any such activity in the public interest by the local government.” Will inform the police station.”
Asking the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar to ensure the implementation of the order in letter and spirit, Asad said any violation would be subject to penal action under the relevant laws.
