Janhvi Kapoor gets emotional as she remembers her mother, late actress Sridevi.
Sridevi, who passed away in February 2018, was always against the idea of Janhvi taking up acting as a profession. She wanted Janhvi to become a doctor instead.
Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most loved and talked-about Bollywood stars from the current generation of actors. Despite coming from a film background, she has established her own identity in the industry. However, Janhvi revealed that her mother, late legendary actress Sridevi, didn’t want her to become an actress.
During her appearance on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, host Kapil Sharma asked Janhvi about whether she was always clear on choosing acting as a profession. To this, the actress revealed, “Mumma bahut saalon se koshish karti rahi ki mujhe is disha se dur rakhe. Main dress up karti thi, or make-up karti thi, toh wo mujhe bolti thi – ‘pata hain mera sapna kya hain? Ki aap ek din doctor bano (For many years, she tried to keep me away from acting. Whenever I used to play dress-up in front of the mirror, she would tell me that she wanted to see me as a doctor).”
However, Janhvi was certain that she wanted to be an actor. She would hilariously tell her mother that she would definitely play the role of doctor in at least one of her films.
Earlier this year, Boney Kapoor opened up about Sridevi’s dreams for their daughter Janhvi’s wedding. Sridevi passed away in February 2018.
In an interview with us, Boney said, “She never wanted any of the daughters to become actors. She was imagining ke inki shaadi karenge. Jab bhi hum kisi ki shaadi pe jaate the toh sochte the ke hum Janhvi ki shaadi bhi aise karenge. Koi aisa hi ladka mil jaaye. (She imagined Janhvi and Khushi getting married. Whenever we would attend a wedding, Sridevi and I would draw inspirations from the wedding and think that this is how we would get Janhvi also married. She wished for Janhvi to find a nice boy).”
Janhvi is currently dating Shikhar Pahariya. She made her acting debut in 2018, a few months after Sridevi passed away. Since her debut, she has starred in several films. She is presently enjoying the big opening of her movie ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’.
