Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underscored “speed and scale” as the most important aspect to modern infrastructure development and said there used to be delays in the completion of important projects in previous decades.

Modi was addressing a public meeting after launching and laying foundation stones of various development projects in the city at the MIT College grounds here.

Focusing on the new approach for infrastructure-led development in the country, the Prime Minister said that the most important thing for the development of modern infrastructure in any country is speed and scale.

“But for decades we had such a system that important projects took a long time to complete. This sluggish attitude is affecting the development of the country as well,” he said.

He said that metro connectivity is being developed in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Thane and Nagpur of Maharashtra. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated a section of the Pune Metro project.

The PM appealed to the citizens of Pune and other cities to travel by metro, regardless of their status in the society.

“I want to appeal to people from all walks of life, especially elders, to inculcate the habit of traveling in metro train,” he said, adding that if more people travel by metro then the volume will eventually reach their respective cities. will help.

“In 21st century India, we have to modernize our cities and add new facilities. Keeping India’s future cities in mind, the Center is working on several projects simultaneously. Our government’s resolve is to green transport, Electric buses, electric has to be launched. Cars and e-motorcycles and every city should have smart mobility. People should use only one car for mobility.”

Modi also said that every city should have an integrated command and control center to make that city smart.

He also stressed on the need to set up efficient waste management system and sewage treatment plants.

The PM said, “Water sources should be protected with proper management. Govardhan plants should be set up in all cities to generate wealth from waste with emphasis on energy efficiency. With this vision we are moving ahead.” “

The Prime Minister said that the RERA (Real Estate Regulation and Development) Act was brought by the Center to protect the flat buyers.

“In the absence of such an act, the common middle class flat buyers used to pay for the houses and for years they never got possession of the houses. In short, the middle class citizens who want to keep their own houses can use them. To make themselves feel cheated before buying a house. To protect their interests, RERA Act was brought, which is helping them a lot.”

He said that a healthy competition among cities would motivate the local bodies to focus on cleanliness and other aspects.

The PM said that the Center is emphasizing on the use of biofuels to reduce dependence on crude oil and reduce pollution.

“Since ethanol plants are being set up in and around, sugarcane farmers are getting a lot of help,” he said.

The PM said that the Mula Mutha riverfront project and metro service in Pune will help solve the issue of frequent flooding and pollution.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for the rejuvenation and pollution abatement of the Mula-Mutha river project. The river will be rejuvenated over an area of ​​9 km at a cost of over Rs 1,080 crore.

“The Center is extending all possible support to make the rejuvenation of the Mula-Mutha rivers possible. When these rivers are rejuvenated, the people of Pune will also feel good. I appeal to the people living in the cities to celebrate ‘Nadi Mahotsav’ I want to create a new awareness about the importance and conservation of these important lifelines,” he said.

He said that in today’s fast growing India, we have to focus on speed and scale.

This is the reason why our government has prepared the PM-Gatishakti National Master Plan. This Gatishakti scheme will ensure an integrated focus as all the stakeholders will work with full knowledge and proper coordination, he added.

The PM said that he is happy that along with modernity, the ancient tradition of Pune and the pride of Maharashtra are being given equal place in urban planning.
