To mark the BJP’s victory in the Tripura assembly elections, this sweet shop has come up with a special message – a popular sweet – with a ‘kamal’ twist.

Lotus is a sweet made of kheer to celebrate BJP’s victory in Tripura.

Each message – the larger ones – weighs about a kilogram and costs Rs 1,200. Whereas the price of the smaller one is between Rs 750 to Rs 250.

Located opposite the Ujayanta Palace where Pradyot Manikya – royal scion and leader of TIPRA Motha lives – Sherowali Sweets says they have sold over 30 pieces of these ‘lotus’ messages. Most of these sweets were reportedly bought by BJP supporters and well-wishers.

“I am happy that the BJP has come to power for a second term. We want development and progress in the state and only BJP can give the required change to the state. The first thing I would like BJP 2.0 to do in Tripura is to control the drug menace in the state. I want it to protect the youth,” said Ghosh, the owner of the sweet shop.

Earlier this week, the BJP and its allies won 32 seats in Tripura. The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura or IPFT crossed the halfway mark of 30 to retain power. The victory, however, was far short of the “tsunami” predicted by Chief Minister Manik Saha and less than the BJP’s 2018 score of 36.

The swearing-in ceremony of the next chief minister of the state is expected to take place on March 8.

The day will mark a major milestone in the state’s politics as Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik has emerged as the frontrunner to take over as the next chief minister of Tripura.

If she assumes power, she will be the first woman chief minister in the entire Northeast and the only woman chief minister among the current BJP chief ministers.

The auspicious day could also mean more orders for Sherowali Sweets’ special ‘padda’ sandesh or ‘kamal’ sandesh.
