ISLAMABAD: The banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) will end its sit-in tonight (Sunday) as per its agreement with the government.

Sources told Geo News that the banned outfit has agreed to withdraw its intended long march and sit-in demonstration, adding that it has also agreed to participate in mainstream politics in future.

On the other hand, the government has agreed to release all arrested activists of the banned organisation, while those who are in custody for terrorism and other serious crimes will have to seek relief from the courts, sources told Geo News.

Sources said the banned outfit will end its dharna tonight and the government will not take any action against the protesters in return.

Officials of the PTI government’s negotiating team held a press conference on Sunday to brief the public about their interactions with the banned TLP.

On behalf of the government, Foreign Minister and Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser was present in the press conference, while Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman was also present.

Inaugurating the press conference in Islamabad, Rahman said talks with the banned TLP have been “successful” and an “agreement” has been reached.

He said that the agreement reached with the government is not victory or defeat of any individual, but victory of Islam and Pakistan.

Rahman shared that under the agreement a steering committee has been formed, which will be headed by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, while Mufti Ghulam Ghaus Baghdadi from TLP will join the committee. He said that the committee would start its work by becoming active from today.

“Detailed discussions were held between the Government of Pakistan and the TLP in an atmosphere of mutual trust and an agreement has been reached between the two sides,” Rahman declared. the stress.
