Mangaluru: Union Ports MinisterSarbananda Sonowali, Minister of Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH inauguration of a 50-bed Ayush Multispecialty Hospital, In Wenlock District Hospital campus in the city on Saturdays.
The hospital was approved in 2016, and was completed in 2020 at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its launch got delayed. The hospital will have an AYUSH OPD, and will have advanced specialized treatment facilities in the future. The modalities of treatment in Ayurveda Panchakarma, Jalauka (leech therapy), Kshar Sutra and Abhyanga therapy are available at the centre. Naturopathy will include hydrotherapy, acupuncture, acupressure, color therapy, magnetic therapy and physiotherapy. In his presidential address, Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said, in Unani, the center will offer dhalak, hijama etc.
He said that more facilities would be provided at the center in future.

Earlier, during the day, the Minister said that Ayurveda and other traditional medicine systems are widely recognized.
“The acceptability of Ayurveda can be further improved through more research, scientific validation and findings,” he said after inaugurating the new Ratnasree Arogyadham Hospital at Kuthpadi.
He said that Ayurveda sector needs more research activities as its demand is increasing. The increase in the number of foreign students opting for Ayurveda is a testament to the increasing acceptance of Indian system of medicine. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi set up a separate AYUSH ministry in 2014, and gave it cabinet status to primarily conduct research,” he said.
“India has a lot of herbal plants of medicinal importance, and scientific research in this field is the need of the hour. It is because of the sincere efforts of our ancestors that Ayurveda has been accepted globally.”
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje said that the importance of organic food and Ayurveda has gained prominence across the world.
