Some people are shamelessly supporting Taliban: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lashed out at those supporting Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan and called for exposing such leaders. Speaking on the floor of the assembly, the chief minister said the Taliban were inflicting unprecedented violence on women and children, “but some people are shamelessly supporting them”.

Adityanath said, “Some people are supporting Taliban. There women and children are being brutalized, but some people are shamelessly supporting Taliban. All these faces should be exposed.”

Many Muslim leaders, including the Samajwadi Party, have come out in support of the Taliban. SP Lok Sabha MP Shafiqur Rehman Barak also compared the takeover of Taliban to India’s independence movement.

“When India was under British rule, our country fought for independence. Now Taliban wants to make their country free and run. Taliban is such a force that does not allow even strong countries like Russia and America to settle in their country. Yes,” said Bark.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has expressed its opinion in support of the Taliban. AIMPLB Secretary Maulana Umrain Mahfouz Rahmani and National Spokesperson Maulana Sajjad Nomani have praised the Taliban and described the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan as an extraordinary success. Nomani saluted “the Taliban for their courage, bravery and decades of sacrifice”.

Violence in Afghanistan has been rising continuously since Sunday, the day the Taliban announced that it had captured the capital, Kabul. Though the terror outfit has promised to protect the rights of women and children, disturbing scenes have emerged where Taliban fighters are seen beating women and children.

The Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan following the fall of the government marks the end of a two-decade campaign by the US and its allies to transform the country. The war started after the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. The US government’s decision to pull out of Afghanistan allowed Taliban fighters to move quickly to gather strength and seize power.
