A week after the death of 28-year-old Indian Army soldier M Prabhu after he was assaulted by a group of men, including DMK councilor Chinnasamy, Tamil Nadu BJP and party ex-servicemen observed a day-long hunger strike against the state. Government.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Annamalai said, “Prabhu was thrashed and assaulted on February 8, but the police acted only six days later. The hunger strike is to wake up the DMK from its slumber. The way the Chief Minister has handled this issue..my head hangs in shame that we have let down an army man.
Annamalai said that Prabhu’s death has been accepted to reflect the attitude of Tamils towards those serving in the army. “A perception is being created across the country that Tamil Nadu does not care about its soldiers,” he said.
The BJP also took out a candle march on Tuesday evening and a silent march till the war memorial in Chennai. Annamalai said, “This is to create awareness among the people of the country that we as Tamils will stand behind our army men.”
The Tamil Nadu BJP also assured Prabhu’s family that the party would pay Rs 10 lakh and also bear the cost of the education of his school-going children.
The BJP ex-servicemen demanded that the state government pay a compensation of Rs 5 crore to Prabhu’s family and sanction a government job for his wife.
Prabhu was thrashed on 8 February in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. He died after battling for six days in the hospital.
According to the police, Prabhu’s sister-in-law used the water tank built near the Panchayat office in the area for washing clothes. What began as an argument between the two parties turned into physical assaults. The ward councilor has a fight with Prabhu’s brother Prabhakaran, who is also an army officer. When Prabhu tried to break them up, the corporator and his men allegedly thrashed him.
Prabhu’s family has strongly demanded action from the Chief Minister against the DMK corporator and his men.
