Sohum Shah shared a brand new trailer of Tumbbad to hype up the re-release and fans are eager to relive the eerie atmosphere again.

Tumbbad is making headlines again as the critically acclaimed horror film is set to return to theatres later this month. The re-release gives fans another chance to experience its chilling atmosphere on the big screen. Starring Sohum Shah in lead role, it remains one of the most unique films in Bollywood, as director Rahi Anil Barve worked on the film’s script for years before shooting began in 2012. After its original release in 2018, Tumbbad quickly gained a loyal following for its intriguing plot. To build excitement, Sohum shared a brand new trailer to hype up the re-release that has already garnered positive reaction from fans eager to relive the eerie atmosphere.

Through the trailer, the actor didn’t just tease fans about the film’s haunting visuals but he also dropped the official re-release date. Sharing the post on Instagram, Sohum wrote, “Sacchai, acchai, burai aur lalach, har yug mein inhi ki kahaniyan dohrayee jaati hain, aisi hi ek kahani dohrane ka samay phir aa gaya hai. Tumbbad Re-release Trailer Out Now. Experience Tumbbad in cinemas again on 13th September, 2024.”

When Tumbbad was first released, Sohum Shah spoke about the difficulties the team went through to make the film in an interview with Bollywood Bubble.

The actor said, “When we were making Tumbbad, the shoot ended in 2015. After that, there were just four people in the office. The crew never thought this film would ever be released, people said it would be shelved. At that time, I struggled a lot. I was selling my flat and my car, and we needed VFX done from Sweden. The people in Sweden weren’t answering our calls. They doubted our credibility. I even took a 3-4 person team to meet them at the Cannes Film Festival. I told them, ‘We are honest people, we will pay you, please make our film.’ We worked hard and went through very tough times.”

According to Bollywood Hungama, Tumbbad has a lifetime box office collection of just Rs 13.57 crore, while the opening day was Rs 0.65 Crore. Despite the low numbers, there is hope that the film might surpass its previous records with its re-release this month. Meanwhile, despite its clash with Kareena Kapoor’s film The Buckingham Murders, fans are optimistic that Tumbbad will still attract strong interest.
