‘So what if a poor man takes the jet?’ Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi counterattacked on opposition’s criticism

New Delhi: Charanjit Singh Channi, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab earlier this week, defended the use of chartered flights to travel to Delhi after the issue was raised by the opposition. “What is the problem if a poor son’s son boards a jet?”

However, according to news agency PTI, the CM declined to comment on whether the government would introduce the bill. The newly sworn-in minister was in Jalandhar where journalists questioned him about his visit to Delhi.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by his deputy Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, OP Soni and Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, flew to Delhi on a chartered flight on Tuesday to discuss the expansion of the new Punjab cabinet with the party’s central leadership.

Sidhu had uploaded a picture of himself standing next to the chartered plane with Channi and Randhawa on his Twitter account. Congress leaders criticized the opposition for traveling to Delhi on a chartered flight.

Taking a dig at him, the Shiromani Akali Dal said that Congress leaders “opt for private jets to travel just 250 km to Delhi”, while the Aam Aadmi Party said the grand old party was “capable of giving up its royal habits”. Not there”.

Taking cognizance of the allegations, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral also jumped into the fray, targeting Congress leaders who had traveled to Delhi on a chartered flight.
