Himachal Pradesh: Due to snowfall in high altitude areas and tribal areas, many roads in the state have been closed. The India Meteorological Department has also issued ‘yellow’ warnings for March 2 and 4. Thunderstorm and lightning warnings have been issued at isolated places over the plains, lower and mid-hills.

Gondla received 6 cm of snow, Kalpa 5.5 cm, Khadrala, Keylong and Kukumseri 4 cm, Kothi 3 cm and Udaipur 2 cm. It also rained intermittently in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. Manali received 11 mm of rain; Tinder and Theog 9 mm each; Chaupal 8 mm; Shilaro, Banjar, Kotkhai and Manali 7 mm each; Shimla, Mashobra, Dalhousie and Rohru 5 mm each; Shimla, Bharmour, Bhuntar and Kasol 4 mm each; and Wangtu and Jubbal Hatti 3 mm each.

The weather office has issued a ‘yellow’ warning of thunder and lightning at isolated places over the plains, lower and mid-hills on March 2 and 4. It has also predicted rain till March 5 as a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect. From March 4 in the western Himalayan region. Bilaspur was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 30 degree Celsius.
Himachal Pradesh received 117 mm of rain during the winter season from January 1 to February 28 against the normal of 187.1 mm, which is a deficit of 37 per cent.
