heroine is adding new features and functionalities to its Fire TV streaming devices and Fire OS powered Smart TVs. The most notable feature is the new smart home dashboard Which is a smart home hub interface similar to what we’ve already seen on the Fire tablet and Echo Show smart display.
Smart Home Dashboard includes quick toggles for switches connected to smart home devices such as lights, plugs, switches Alexa, Along with this, the dashboard also includes a dedicated section for smart cameras with dedicated thumbnails. However, users will have to click on those thumbnails to start live video footage from the cameras.
The idea of integrating smart home dashboards into TVs is not new. Samsung already offers SmartThings dashboard, Xiaomi is also my house The same applies to integrations and the LG ThinQ. On Fire TV devices, users had the option to control smart home devices via voice commands only and now with the new dashboard, users can easily do so using the Alexa Voice Remote.
Amazon has also confirmed that new features like Smart Home Group, Thermostats will be added to Dashboard next year.
In addition to the new smart home dashboard, the company has also added a new Alexa Shortcuts panel which is a part of the Alexa voice command interface that appears on the screen when the Alexa button on the remote is pressed.
Sections include smart home controls, news, local video libraries, and weather details.
The features are currently rolling out in the US and Canada and the company is yet to say anything about a global roll out.
