Dausa: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra began in Rajasthan’s Dausa town on Sunday (December 18) morning, with slogans raised by a group of Congress workers calling for Sachin Pilot to take over as the chief minister of Rajasthan. This exposed the internal tussle in the Rajasthan Congress between the Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot factions. Ashok Gehlot is the current Chief Minister of Rajasthan but Sachin Pilot is being considered as a possible contender for the post of CM. In a video shared by news agency ANI, some Congress workers can be heard chanting “Sachin Pilot Zindabad” and “Hamara CM kaisa ho? Sachin Pilot jaisa ho” as they march in the yatra.
The Rajasthan Congress has struggled to form a united front as Ashok Gehlot’s tenure as CM has been marred by a power struggle with his former deputy CM Sachin Pilot.
This year, when Gehlot was expected to take over as Congress party chief, 90 MLAs, said to be Gehlot loyalists, submitted their resignations over rumors of Sachin Pilot getting the CM post.
